If the East-West Corridor were to become a public-private partnership (PPP), the Maine Legislature would have to vote to approve the project. Currently the Maine Department of Transportation is conducting a feasibility study on the East-West Corridor which was originall to be presented to the Maine Legislature by January, 2013. Following the completion of the feasibility study, the private investors will have a chance to submit their proposal for the PPP to be voted upon by the Maine Legislature. Ultimately, the Legislature has the power to stop this project, and without such a move, the corporate interests promoting it will have their way, regardless of local opposition.
Stop the East-West Corridor encourages Maine citizens to contact their legislators and tell them to oppose the project.
